Protestors rallied outside a Kern County Superior Court in support of Assembly Bill 2183. This law was signed by Governor Newsom two years ago. AB 2183 makes it easier and safer for farm workers to unionize.

A Fresno court has ruled in favor of a Kern County farmer that sued the county for the way in which it issues oil and gas drilling permits. This farmer believes the county is prioritizing the oil industry and in turn is failing to protect farmlands from the impacts of oil drilling.

A Kern County judge has approved a preliminary injunction, to limit the amount of water from the Kern River the city of Bakersfield can use.

A Kern County Superior Court judge is considering whether to issue an injunction that would prevent the city of Bakersfield from distributing water in the Kern River until the lawsuit is settled.
